Please read policies and product description fully before ordering. Thank you!
THE IMPORTANT STUFF:
Q: I bought some custom art— now what?
A: Great, thank you! Please contact me ASAP so we can discuss details. Give me reference photos, tell me about your pet's or character's personality, and I will do my best to depict your vision! Emailing me at beastyart{at}gmail{dot}com is probably easiest, but I am available to chat in many places! Feel free to contact me in any of the places listed on my “Social Media” page.
Q: What can you draw?
A: I will draw pretty much any kind of critter: your pet, your favorite animal, your Pokemon team, a mythical creature, a personal character. I will not draw in a style that is not my own. If you want a My Little Pony character, it will come out looking like an actual horse. I am pretty terrible at drawing humans and I will likely decline commissions of human characters. I try to keep my content family-friendly— please, no hate speech, risqué/fetish material, drug references, or gore. If you're unsure about the content of your commission, shoot me a message and we’ll talk about it.
Q: What are my rights as the commissioner?
A: As commissioner, you have the right to feel comfortable with the entire commissioning process. Please don't hesitate to speak up if you feel that: something needs to be fixed you want more progress shots I am taking too long I am not living up to your expectations. You have the right to receive your commission within the estimated dates, and the right to be informed and offered appropriate options if I am falling behind on deadlines. You may request a "rush" job in exchange for a mutually agreed upon "rush fee." You may request that I postpone publicly posting a time-sensitive gift. You have the right to receive artwork to the specifications and quality advertised in my product listings. If at any time you decide that I cannot fulfill your needs, you have the right to cancel your commission, forfeit any completed work, and receive a partial or full refund at the artist's discretion.
Your commission is for personal use ONLY. If the work is posted to any website or social medium, proper credit and a link to my site is required. You may resize or crop the artwork to create icons, wallpapers, or other graphics for digital format. You may print the work to display in your home, create merchandise for your own use, or get it tattooed if you so choose. However, you may NOT sell prints, sell merchandise, publish the piece, or otherwise profit from my work beyond the resale of an actual physical drawing or painting. Violators may be reported and/or blacklisted from future commissions.
Q: What are your rights as the artist?
A: As the artist, I have the right to refuse a commission for any reason and I am not obligated to specify these reasons. I have the right to cancel a commission at any time if I feel the commissioner has behaved inappropriately, or I am unable to fulfill my duties as an artist— in which case I will extend a partial or full refund at my discretion. I have the right to be paid for the time and materials I have invested in a piece, even if the commission is canceled before its completion.
As the artist, I reserve all rights to my work. I can add my watermark, post your commission on any website, alter it, and sell prints of it if I so choose (rest assured I will not sell prints of an original character, only generic animals/characters). I retain all rights to rejected sketches and incomplete pieces, which may be recycled for future use. If my work is found to be stolen, altered, or posted without proper credit, I have the right to permanently blacklist the violator and/or pursue legal action.
Q: It's not in your shop, but can you make me _______?
A: If an item is not currently in stock, that means I'm unable or unwilling to make that particular item at this time. I sincerely apologize. You're welcome to contact me if you REALLY want something that's not in stock; I'll see what I can do.
Q: What do you use / where you do you get your supplies?
A: I am happy to answer any "tricks of the trade" questions! I try to be very specific about my materials and techniques in product descriptions, and I can certainly point you in the direction of my suppliers for most items. Sorry, I can't teach you "how to draw in 10 easy steps," but I can offer a little advice on where to start. I firmly believe that anyone can draw. Don't be afraid to chat me up!
Q: Will you draw me something for free? How about an art trade?
A: I occasionally give out free artwork through giveaways/contests on Facebook or Instagram. Otherwise, I do not work for free. I'm sorry if you don't have the money or you're having a bad day. There are plenty of artists who do take free requests who could help you with that. :)
Q: Your prices are too high!
A: Sorry, but I am unwilling to negotiate on my prices. It doesn't matter what other artists are charging. My prices reflect the cost of my supplies plus the value I assign to my hours and ability, both of which are subject to change over time.
Q: Are you done yet???
A: Please understand that I have a full-time job, a houseful of animals, and a personal life outside of this work. It can take me several weeks to complete a piece, as there may be orders ahead of yours on my commission list. Let me know up front if you need your commission by a certain date (e.g. for someone's birthday) so I can plan accordingly. I will do my best to meet deadlines given proper notice. If you need to receive your artwork sooner than the quoted time frame for completion and shipping, we can discuss the possibility of a "rush fee" to bump your commission up to top priority.
If you no longer wish to wait, send me a message and I will happily issue you a full or partial refund at my discretion, based on how much of your commission is completed. If you are unreasonably impatient or rude to me, I will cancel your commission. I will not tolerate being treated as an art machine. I do my best to keep my clients updated on the progress of their commissions so you can be assured that I AM working on it. :)
Q: What is your privacy policy?
A: I take your privacy very seriously and will take all measures to protect your personal information. Any personal information received will only be used to fill your order. I will not sell or redistribute your information to anyone.
Q: What is your policy on returns/refunds?
A: For finished custom artwork, I do not offer refunds as the payment is for time, labor, and ability rather than the end product. For this reason, I strive to make sure you're happy with the sketch before I proceed, and I will make minor edits if possible after it is finished.
If you have paid but I have not started your commission, I will issue a full refund. If I have already begun your piece, I will issue a partial refund at my discretion.
For prints, handmade items, and other non-custom (original) merchandise, I will issue a full refund of the original price if you package and ship the item back to me undamaged.
I am sorry, but I cannot be held responsible for items lost or damaged in the mail. I do my absolute best to ensure your package will arrive safely, but I always provide a high-resolution digital copy of artwork in case the worst should happen.
